Michael J. Kowalewski, DVM

Dr. Mike is a 2003 graduate of the Virginia-Maryland Regional Veterinary School. He completed his undergraduate degree in Dairy and Animal Science at Penn State University.

He started his veterinary career at West Branch Mobile Vet Clinic in Lewisburg, PA. In 2006, he moved back to Susquehanna County, when he purchased Montrose Large Animal Service. A native of Forest City, PA Dr. Mike was excited to move back to his home area to practice veterinary medicine.

Dr. Mike is interested in all areas of veterinary medicine, but primarily focuses on large animal medicine, herd health and embryo transfer.

Dr. Mike is actively involved in the community serving as President and Director for the Harford Agricultural Society, home of the Harford Fair. Dr. Mike resides in Montrose with his wife, Michelle, and their two sons, Andrew and Christopher.

Stephanie Tarlowe, DVM

Dr. Tarlowe grew up in northwestern New Jersey, where involvement in 4-H and FFA shaped her desire to work with livestock during her veterinary career. She graduated from Cornell University's College of Veterinary Medicine in 2019 after earning her Bachelor's degree in Animal Science in 2015, also at Cornell. 

Dr. Tarlowe spent the last four years at a rural mixed practice in the heart of Ohio's Amish community. There, she fostered an interest in small animal reproduction, soft tissue surgery, and swine medicine. 

In her free time, Dr. Tarlowe is an avid musician and enjoys playing with the Vestal Community Band. She lives in Great Bend with a three-legged cat, three guinea pigs, and two hamsters.

Laura Welsted, LVT,CVT

Laura’s dedication to animals started at a young age working alongside her mother, an equine vet, and developed a passion for all animals big and small. She followed that love for animals by attending Johnson College and obtaining a degree in veterinary medicine. After graduating with high honors she sought to and succeeded in obtaining her vet tech license in both NY and PA.

Laura has also worked several years in a small animal practice in which her knowledge and experience has grown and expanded her love and understanding for your smaller furry friends. She thrives on the everyday learning she receives treating your beloved pets and is always aiming to provide a positive stress-free environment. She hopes to see your large or small family members soon!

Laura’s spare time is spent enjoying time with her rescue dogs, doing outdoor activities including gardening, kayaking, motorcycle riding, and seeing Dave Matthews concerts with her husband.

Sarah Cramer, LVT, CVT

Sarah is a Vetirinary Technician who graduated from SUNY Delhi in 2017.


She is licensed in both Pennsylvania and New York.


Sarah joined the practice in March of 2021.


In her free time she enjoy spending time with her three dogs and horse, gardening and being with her husband and two children.

Cindy K. Tompkins

Cindy joined the practice in 2017. Cindy and her family own and operate Evergreen Lane Farm located in Montrose. Previously a dairy operation, they now raise beef cattle and harvest hay for sale. 


Cindy has been involved in the Susquehanna County 4-H program, Dairy Promotion, Conservation District, and E.L. Rose Conservancy. 


Cindy enjoys flower gardening, John Deere Tractors, spending time with her four grandchildren and her senior German Shepherd, Izzy.
